There are a lot of haters out there who enjoy the fact that Barry Bonds has been blacklisted from MLB, I'm not. Its ridiculous that a guy who has been the best hitter in recent memory not named Pujols, isn't worth the look for the minimum salary. The San Francisco Giants are 7 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. They're not catching the Dodgers, but they are only a game out of the wild card spot and that will be available for the rest of this season. There are a number of NL teams that are good enough to secure that wild card spot but they all have flaws. This means a team with good pitching (Giants, Braves) can make a push for that wild card spot if they added some offense. If the Giants were smart, they would be on the phone with Bonds' agent right now.
Barry may not be the best hitter in the game anymore, but I would be shocked if he couldn't be at least the second best hitter on that team shortly after rejoining them. This moves makes so much more sense financially. Bonds would be playing for a prorated minimum salary and the Giants wouldn't have to raid their farm system to get help. Plus Barry is still a big draw and any extra turnout San Fran can generate could only help. Bonds would fit perfect in that clean-up slot between Sandoval and Molina and he should be healthy enough to not need as much of a break as he needed the last time he played because of all the time he has had to heal. Of course, if it makes that much sense, don't expect to see it happen.
