I Feel Sorry For Q-Rich

Posted by CharlesG@DrewSportsWatch Thursday, July 2, 2009

Nobody should have to play for the sorry Clippers, let alone have to play for them twice in one career. Sadly, that is the fate of one Quentin Richardson as he was traded back to L.A. for Zach Randolph. The deal means the two former Knicks will swap places and send Q-Rich back to the team that drafted him in 2000.

Seriously folks is Ashton Kutcher Richardson's agent. Can you imagine what it must have been like for him this past week as he has received news about his career. He must have felt like Martin in Blue Streak when he got off the bus and realized the building he hid his diamond in is now a police station (Fifth and Grand!? To protect and to serve!?). Imagine you're Q and your agent calls and says, "I got you traded. You're outta New York." You ask, "Where am I headed?" He responds, "Memphis." Half an hour later you call him back (you broke the first phone by throwing it against the wall) to make sure you heard him clearly and your agent repeats that you're headed to Memphis. "By the way for who?" you ask, and he responds in a low voice, "Darko Milicic." You try your best to remain calm and tell him that is unacceptable, and he better make something happen.
A few days pass and he calls you back, "I got good news, I got you out of Memphis." You ask sarcastically, "Where'd you send me this time, to the Clippers?" You here nothing but silence. "Hello, hello...you %$^%*&&*%!!!" The agent is in the middle of trying to explain, "...and you get to play with Blake Griffin.." when he hears nothing but dial tone. He gets a text a minute later saying "You're Fired!!!"

I wasn't there but it had to go down like that. As for Memphis, they get a low post scorer they sorely need in Randolph and maybe Zach can have a positive influence on his team for a change.
He should help make easier shots for Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo as well as rack up some pretty decent rebounding numbers. If their young players continue to get better, the Grizzlies could have a pretty solid core with Randolph, Gay, Mayo, Conley, and Thabeet.

  2. good column, but as for q rich he should fit better now on the clippers as a role player backing up eric gordon and al thornton and for the grizzlies that is my sleeper team for 09-10 season they looked much improved on paper
