Andruw Jones hit 3 home runs last night to give him a total of 14 on the season so far. Jones has been one of my favorite players for a long time so it is nice to see him rebound this season after having such miserable seasons the last two years. Things had gotten so bad that the Dodgers didn't even try to trade him this past off-season, they just paid what they needed to get rid of him. Now he is getting regular playing time in an explosive offense and returning to the productive player he was in Atlanta.
Jones has acknowledged that the hitting coach for Texas was the major reason why he wanted to play for the Rangers this season. Rudy Jaramillo is the batting coach for the Rangers and has helped make the Rangers one of the most productive line-ups in baseball. Look for him to get a manager's job in the near future. Meanwhile, Jones know he has to remain productive in order to keep his playing time in a crowded Rangers outfield. Jones' contract is up after this year so it will be interesting to see where he ends up next season. Either way, it's nice to see him relevant again.
